Adelboden & Surroundings
Adelboden lies nestled in the upper Engstligental valley and is surrounded by an impressive mountain landscape. The surrounding area offers visitors a unique mix of alpine nature, traditional culture, and diverse excursion options.
Right at the edge of the village, the Engstligen Falls—one of the largest waterfalls in Switzerland—thunder dramatically into the depths, making them a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers. In the surrounding valleys, such as the Kandertal with Kandersteg or the romantic Gasterntal, guests can discover untouched landscapes and crystal-clear mountain streams.
Not far from Adelboden is Lake Blausee, a small, mystical mountain lake with turquoise water, set in a fairytale forest. Also easily accessible is Lake Oeschinen above Kandersteg, known as one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Alps.
Those seeking proximity to culture and city life can reach the charming town of Thun on the lake of the same name in less than an hour. There, historic alleys, the castle, and the lakeside promenade invite visitors to stroll. The nearby regions around Interlaken, Lake Thun, Lake Brienz, and the world-famous destinations of Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, and Mürren are also quickly reached and offer spectacular views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau.
The surroundings of Adelboden are characterized by their diversity: from adventurous hiking routes and panoramic mountains such as the Niesen to peaceful natural spots perfect for relaxation. For guests, this means they can enjoy both alpine adventures and cultural experiences in a short time—always set against the backdrop of an incomparable mountain world.
